WIPocalypse.....October

Yes I am a day late checking in. Things around the house are pretty crazy. Our son was here for a week gathering his clothes and necessary household supplies to take out to North Carolina with him. So lots of time going through boxes deciding what goes what stays and what just need to be dumped/donated.

Along with that work got really busy with finishing one engine and getting 2 others ready to reassemble.

Then when I had time to stitch what did I do???? Oh I took a sewing class......well that technically is stitching   :-)

The question this month: Are there any fibers or materials used in stitching that you’re nervous to try?

I am not nervous to try any I just do not care to use certain things because for me they are not relaxing. I do not care for eavenweave, linen, silks or beads.

What have I worked on???? Well I have finished the Friendship Compass from the Glendon Place Facebook group, Warm Winter Wishes by Waxing Moon, Boo from Just Cross Stitch Magazine. I started and finished Vampire from Glendon Place Monster March, The Pilot that I created myself with the help of a few stitchers and a designer friend and finally a bag I made for a friend that will be a Christmas present.

These 2 are of course part of my Halloween decorations.

This is the bag I made as a gift it says Hunting and Fishing and also has charms attached, the little pilot will also be made into a similar bag.

If you would like to see more detailed pictures of these projects you can look on my other posts here on the blog.

My current WIP is Lightening McQueen from Disney. Another gift for Christmas. All of my work from now until the end of the year will be gifts. I hope to have enough time to complete all I have planned.
My sewing class was for a clutch purse. I made for myself and I am so happy with how it turned out. I definitely will be making more.
I hope you enjoy you time here. Stop back and check in. I try to update about twice a month.

Busy times

Sorry that it has been so long since my last post but I have realized that I am getting very close to that dreaded Christmas deadline and I have 4 projects to finish. So my computer time is reduced and my stitching time is increased. I hope that I get all of this done but if I do not then I will just have to plan better next year. I had thought I would get it all done early this year but I kept getting distracted by new fun stitches. And then I looked at the calendar and OH NO!!!!! it is the middle of October.

I have 3 finishes to show you 2 are gifts of course and they were so fun to do. Both are finished into bags and ready to wrap and set aside, ready for gifting.

First is stitched on a pre-made bag. For a friend who lives in Oregon and gets to enjoy the snow. I am so jealous I want to move back to snow country....... (sad face). I did this same pattern for myself several years back.
It is a Waxing Moon Design named Warm Winter Wishes
The next one was not a pattern it was just an idea I got and put it together. This friend is an outdoors man so I made a duffle bag for him to carry with him when he goes out Hunting or Fishing. It is mean to be camouflaged so the picture may not show it to the best. In person it is easy to see the wording. I did it with waste canvas on cotton fabric with an outdoor themed print. In total this only took me 4 days. I love words they always seem to stitch up so fast. I also found some charms to add to the bag . This is such an easy bag to make. Fist picture was taken as I was stitching. Then as I was removing the waste and finally all the pictures on the finished project and the charms.

The last finish is the Friendship Compass pillow that I was stitching from the Glendon Place FB page. I love how it turned out. The greens and yellows really compliment each other.
I also wanted to show the Bewitched plaque that I added to the center of the Nora Corbet pixies. It is hard to get it to show up well in pictures but it really compliments the hanging.
And finally an update on the pilot that was the mystery stitch I had going on the blog this month. He is stitching up so cute. The collar of the jacket and the cuffs would have been wool so I am trying to decide if I want to do those in a turkey stitch to make it look fuzzy. I will head up to my LNS and talk to
the owner she is great with ideas and she can help be decide what is best.

Installment 2 of My Blog Contest

Well 2 weeks ago I started this mystery. It is a pattern I created to make into a gift for a friend. I told you all to think outside the box and you all did a great job of that but none of the answers were correct so here is the second hint and a new picture to help with the guessing.

The hint is .......this is not a seasonal design. There is not holiday or season for this pattern. It is generic as far as that goes.  And the picture updates.
I also thought you also might like a peek at the pattern and fabric that the winner will recieve.

So good luck to all that want to participate.

Halloween Decorations

I just love Halloween and I love Halloween stitching as well. I have now brought out all the decorations and the house truly feels as if fall is here.

This year I have made 4 new displays 3 with stitching and one just for fun.

Last year I had Luna done but I had not yet completed Ana. The patterns are 2 of Nora Corbett Bewitching Pixies, I believe there are 8 of them now I have modified mine to suit my tastes so hers will look a bit different. I changed colors and added my own embellishments . I have been trying to decide how to hang them. I had a root around my craft room and found 2 cauldrons that have been stuffed in a drawer and thought hot diggity. I painted the dowel that they are hanging on had hubby drill holes in the side of each cauldron and stuck them on the ends of the dowel. Pulled some fluff off the fake spider web and poked it in the pots then cut a small bit of sparkle branches off some of the stuff I got from Michael's the other day and put that in each of the pots to make it look like there is potion boiling up. I am pleased with the results all except the hanger. I had to go into town and as long as I was on the same side of town I decided to run into Michael's just to see if there was anything I could find to cover up that hanger. I was hoping to find the word Bewitched and can you believe they had it. The very last one on the rack but it was there. OMG now I just have to decide if I want to paint it black and add green sparkles or green with black sparkles. How darn perfect is that!!!!!!

I mentioned in the Wipocalypse that I had a unique idea for finishing the Boo from JCS Halloween mag. Well this is what I have done and I love that it came out as I was hoping it would.
While I was gathering together the trims and embellishments for that one I saw a really fun decoration display that they had in the floral section of Michael's, they wanted $129 for it. I looked around and found almost all of the same decorations most of them 60% off because they were Halloween items so I bought all of them plus several frames a couple of storage boxes and a candy bar....
(wink, wink) and all of that was $89. Came home and went to my craft room and assembled the same decoration. This is on the counter by the front door.
And finally my last Halloween decoration for this year, I have to get those Christmas gifts stitched. But I could not resist this one. At first I was not expecting to do any stitching for this but when I was putting it together yesterday it just screamed for one of the Glendon Place; Monster March Characters. It was small and quick to stitch.
